Hi, I'm Carolyn McDonald and I'm really happy that you've visited this well-being space I've created!
I live with my family in regional Victoria. I have extensive experience teaching children and adults. I love reading, music, movies, learning, walking in nature and travelling.
I'd like to share part of my story with you about why I made this blog.
I was very close to my dad and couldn't imagine him not being around. When that changed and the beautiful man passed away, along with the prolonged, deep mourning, I realised with a thud that my time here is finite! On reflecting on Dad's life, I remembered that he was someone who enjoyed all of those precious, little, everyday moments and that people felt, in his words, 'like a million bucks' when they were around him. He inspired me to make the most out of the time I had left. I realised I wanted to feel... well...happier & healthier and to pass that on to other people.I love learning, so I studied a postgraduate certificate in Positive Psychology and coaching. I found out that optimistic people often live happier, longer lives. I'd let that slip as life got busier and I got into some negative thinking patterns. I'm comforted in the understanding that I can use my brain (head) and tap into my emotions (heart) to become more optimistic and fulfilled (healthy) by practising simple everyday habits.
I know I get meaning in my life from helping people. I love teaching and motivating others to take control of their lives. So for my remaining time in this life, I want to help everyday people feel mentally well and to play my part in preventing mental illness. Something close to my family.
